Mallorca – The Island Vacation

Mallorca, the Spanish island in the western Mediterranean, belongs to the group of the Balearic Inseln.Sie has a maximum width of 96 km and a length of 78 km island is the largest foreign in this group. In her live about 985 000 people and its area is 3640 km . The capital is called Palma. The coastline is about 554 Km The events of the landscape are very different. The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range which runs parallel to the northern coast contains beautiful rocky coastal areas with small beaches. It covers about 20 km wide and 100 km in length. With 46 peaks over a height of 1000 m, it is probably the most impressive mountain landscape of Mallorca.

The climate is temperate and subtropical, with short, mild winters and hot summers. The flora consists of more than 1,500 different plant species. The fauna, however has not so much species richness. But it is the large number of bird species not to be despised. The history of Mallorca extends to 4000 BC, back into the past. Then settled the first peoples of many caves that verkammen on the island and served them as protection from the weather. These caves have been preserved until today and one of the attractions of the island.

As Mallorca is a very popular destination, especially today large numbers of people streaming through the many last minute and package holidays to this island. Simultaneous blessing and curse for the inhabitants and the nature, because the tourism nurtures many lives and families but the environment very load. The pollution will be reduced by a levy of a tax.
